I Exist Project - Student Composer Collaboration Opportunity
The I Exist Project is excited to announce its first Student Composer Collaboration Opportunity!
The I Exist Project’s mission is to celebrate, curate, and promote the creation and visibility of queer music. To further the project’s goal of promoting young queer composers and their music, we are excited to launch the first annual IEP Student Composer Collaboration Opportunity!
LGBTQIA+ students are invited to submit a proposal and materials for consideration to collaborate on the creation of new repertoire.
2-5 selected composers will be asked to compose a queer themed piece, to be premiered and recorded in late 2023. Additionally, selected pieces will be included on the in-progress multi-volume IEP album, with international distribution.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be currently registered students, of any degree level from Bachelor's through Doctorate, in a music program in the United States as of January 2023.
Piece Requirements:
Chosen applicants will be asked to write a piece for either alto or soprano saxophone, with or without piano.
Piece must be a minimum 4 minutes in length.
Fee: There is no application fee!
Deadline: March 1st, 2023.
Results: April 21st, 2023.
